Montana Writer Team ...

Montana Writer Team Publikat Publishing book
MONTANA spray paint is probably the world’s
most known specialized graffiti spray paint. Since the year 2000 MONTANA supports a group of artists which they call
the MONTANA WRITER TEAM.
All members – SMASH137, KENT, CANTWO, DASH and ATOM – are internationally well-known and respected artists in the graffiti scene; every one of them has been painting for at least 16 years.
Since the foundation of the team, several times a year MONTANA organizes wall productions for these artists all over the world to do some PR for their spray paint products. Meanwhile the team has been painting together in Germany, Italy, Finland, Russia, Poland, the USA, Spain, Switzerland and Denmark. For the future there are plans to go to Asia, South America and Australia.
RUEDIONE, one of the directors of MONTANA and photographer for several years, has been accompanying organizing this team from the first day on. And always in his luggage: his camera. He documents each single action of the team. His close contact to the members enables him to show their works and them-selves from a very special point of view.
Thus the reader of the book MONTANA WRITER TEAM can experience the graffiti actions of the team and gain an insight behind the curtain of each artist. How does CANTWO live? Where does SMASH137 work? Questions that won’t get answered to a 100% but you will have the chance to get certain impressions on who they are and what they do.
Divided into two parts the book starts off with the artists’ portraits, each on seven double spreads, one of those seven designed by the artist himself. The following part is full of short stories of each production the team did and impressive photographs from RUEDIONE.
hardcover, 160 pages, text: English, format: 20cm x 29,7cm.

Action Painting brin...

Action Painting bringing art Publikat Publishing book
Just as BANKSY‘s “Wall and Piece” gave people an easy access to the
street art world, the title ACTION PAINTING – BRINGING ART TO THE TRAINS (ISBN:
978-3-939566-25-0) gives outsiders a profound insight on the adventures,
the techniques, the ethics and the passion behind these humorous,
radical, sometimes political or straight typographical pieces of art.
All works presented in this book are no longer existent. Gone for good, washed off the side of the train they were painted on – sometimes only hours after their creation! What remains is a little photo. A last glimpse of what to create took much skills, courage, determination and the risk of paying big fines or even going to jail for it. The fate of that little photo is often to end up in a shoe box hidden for the constant fear of criminal prosecution.
The authors of ACTION PAINTING have brought many of these photos back to the light and have created the most comprehensive collection of art created on Europe‘s transit systems until today. They present the highlights of what has been painted in the past quarter century. The task had much of a treasure hunt, as it was a long chain of conspiratorial contacts which in the end lead to unmarked packages that would arrive, containing the sought-after photos.
216 color pages are showing the highlights of what has been rollin’on the tracks between Helsinki and Madrid in the past quarter century.
25 years ago, the release of the iconic book “SUBWAY ART” sparked the flame of painting trains on this side of the Atlantic. While train graffiti died in New York, it continues to flourish on Europe‘s trains and freed itself not only stylistically from its origins to create the most diverse forms of expressions. Many of those who had their first contact with art and typography at train depots are nowadays art directors or present their work in galleries worldwide. Some of their work even get sold at prices which are much more worth then the costs for cleaning they were forced to pay in the past.
It’s often shrugged off as vandalism and this pops up the question if this is art or not. A painted train might never make it to the Tate Modern in London, but it took a whole lot of artwork ability to let the work pictured in this book arise. Because of its accessible and structured chapters the book does not only give insiders a authentic insight in some of the best works ever done on trains.
Next time a painted train will pull into the railway station the reader of ACTION PAINTING will recognize it in a different way.

Art inconsequence Publikat Publishing book
Where graffiti ends, art begins.
This unambiguous classification has been dominating the societal opinion
for decades. Maybe it is because for the outstanding observer graffiti
just not has developed. But maybe it is because he has been aware of it,
but has never really seen it. Therewith graffiti would be the first art
form that would not have outgrown his embryonic status within 25 years.
In 6 essays and with the help of a 70 min. DVD documentary the book “ART INCONSEQUENCE – ADVANCED VANDALISM” documents the contemporary appearance of an art form, which started off as a phenomenon and which found itself pigeonholed by society before it could even found itself. It might was that prejudice which allowed a group of graffiti writers to develop as anarchic and as uncompromising as this art form once began. With no consideration for adepts and investors something could evolve which cannot be tangible to the outstanding observer as he is only confronted with components of a group of works. The more graffiti has been pushed aside, and the more it has set its own rules and has submitted to them, the more some encouraged writers have been willing to depart from the normal appearance of a graffiti without renouncing the freedoms which illegality offers.
“ART INCONSEQUENCE – ADVANCED VANDALISM” offers 144 pages of square format filled with unseen impressions of a radical art form between beauty and absurdity. Essays (in German and English) of Robert Kaltenhäuser, Hans Winkler & Carlo McCormick, Peter Michalski, Bernhard Uske, and Pia Pada open the door to a world which until was closed the reader. A book and a DVD which invite to interpret signs and wonders, to find the beauty in the non-wanted and to clean up the thinking that behind this art which has always been labelled as vandalism there is neither content nor interrelation.

Black Ink - Ata TOAST Publikat Publishing book
Black Ink: Black toast for
gourmets.
For graffiti artist and illustrator Ata “Toast” Bozaci (1974) black ink is far more than just colour: It is the elixir which brings life into his countless ideas on paper. That is why the Swiss now turns to the origins and presents a collection of selected sketches from the last two decades in his book “Black Ink”.
In graffiti scene he is simply called TOAST, others know him by the name of Ata Bozaci, or as the founder and co-owner of the firm “Atalier” in Bern, Switzerland. As versatile as the person is the work of the internationally renowned multi-talent, who lately designed the private apartment of Gunter Sachs in the legendary castle at Lake Wörth, Austria. Although his murals, illustrations, and advertisements are quite different, they all share the same origin: a sketch made with black ink on a simple sheet of paper. With his book “Black Ink” Ata Bozaci allows for the very first time an insight into the creative developing process of his works.
Already the first pages clearly show that TOAST learned his handcraft to a large extent without a computer – contrary to most other young artists. Lines and areas join each other organically and the viewer will recognise with surprise that the black ink on white paper seems to have some kind of life of its own. TOAST’s characteristic reduction to the essential is emphasised by the renunciation of colour and lets the originally coloured works almost appear unknown. Ata Bozaci wants to break the usual habits and invites the reader to take another look at putative known works to discover the goodness of simplicity.
